Niche Marketing Business: Sniff Out Bullshit, Love Yourself, And Earn More

By Davin On January 15, 2012 Under Productivity

Hmm…niche marketing business bullshit…

Have you ever wondered why it is, that when a certain new medium on the Internet starts to take Niche Marketing - Smells Like Bullshit off, by the same time next week all of a sudden there’s say 5 to 10 new products either from gurus or a new face, all claiming they’re the new expert of this radical new medium?

I mean “Hey, let’s look at Facebook.”

Once Facebook began to take off, all of a sudden there must have been 50 new Facebook experts in the span of a month. Weird huh?

Ya wanna know why? Because, half the time it’s bullshit, that’s why…

Did you know, that often times some marketers will announce a new product launch, before
they’ve even began to create the product? On top of that, often times, the marketer didn’t
have a damn thing to do with the creation of “their” product.

No, it was all outsourced. Next, it was nicely bundled up with enticing hot graphics, and
they’ve slapped their name on it. “Fricken eh! My new product!”

He’s thinking to himself, “I wonder if this actually works? Hmm, well it looks pretty damn
good anyway. Let’s get selling it..there’s money to be made here..”

Can you hear the intense Skype convos and the phones ringing, the minute it looks like
something new is going to take off.

“Mike, Mike…crap man…we gotta..we gotta…put together a Facebook product man! It’ll
be HUGE. We’ll sell a crapload of them!”

Thing is..I know this stuff since I’ve worked behind the scenes, and have put together a lot
of things for bigger marketers since late 2007. So, yes I’ve spoken with many through the
years. It was part of my job. Does that mean, that all of them are dis-honest and full of crap?

Hell no! That’s not what I’m saying, but there certainly is a share of them. I’m also not
saying that the people I’ve worked for weren’t ethical. Quite the contrary…very nice
people. However, because of what I did, it placed  me in contact with many others in the
industry.

So what’s one to do? How do you move forward knowing that?

I’ll tell you this much. Some people won’t like me for this post!

But, I don’t care…I really don’t. Hey, I’ve been lied to and deceived by many myself,
on an even more personal level. When I decided to create this new blog for 2012, I
promised myself I wouldn’t hold anything back from readers.

As the old saying goes, “I’m stickin to it…”

The truth is, I’ve never really cared if I ever reached any type of “guru status”. It’s just
not my gig, or what I care about. Honestly, the amount of “ass kissing” that goes on behind
the scenes at times in the IM niche, rather turns my stomach. Especially, since a few have
screwed with my “good nature”, as well.

Now give me decency, loyalty, and genuine friendship..now those are things I care about. Some
say I wear my heart on my sleeve, but so be it man..that’s who I am.

If some don’t like that, well then, watch my back as I’m walking away!

Love Yourself: Ooh, That Sounds Sexy…Lick Your Ear

Lick Your EarKatherine Anne Porter wrote, “Love must be learned, and learned again and again. There is no end to it.” Katherine Anne is right. There is no end to it. Each day, we need to love ourselves.

Part of loving ones self, is recognizing past mistakes. It’s also realizing that in order for getting what you want, you need to avoid persons, places, or things that have harmed you at an emotional or physical level. Things such as this are detrimental and harmful to ones soul.

It’s about letting go, and also forgiveness of yourself. To move on in a positive direction, we simply have to let go, and wipe the slate clean.

In 2012, I’ve decided to do just that. In many respects, I’m finding the passion again for doing things the way I want, and not caring what others think, or say. After all, we can’t please everybody all the time now, can we?

It’s almost like starting over…

I invite you to do the same. If you’ve been one in the past who’s had “opportunitis”, and
have fallen again, and again, for the next new “shiny object”, then it’s time to forgive
yourself and “get down to business”.

In some ways, I think “opportunity seekers” are just feebly attempting to avoid the obvious.

That obvious is of course, that building a solid, sustainable, and lasting niche marketing business
requires hard work and dedication. There’s never been a magic button, secret loophole, or
none of that garbage that’s been force fed to us over the years.

Marketing successfully online comes down to nothing more than building solid relationships, traffic, conversion, and sales.

Sure, it takes time to learn and get the most out of these elements in marketing, but, that’s
it! Shiny objects..not needed here, so what is?

Earn More – Like The Sound Of That?

In one of my previous posts, I eluded to the fact that even the most successful marketers inEarn More With Niche Marketing In 2012 the world still maintain having their own coach of some type. Even if they’re experts in their particular field, they still have them. Actually, it’s more like “need them.”

It helps you to stay grounded, accountable, and pushing forward..

If you want to be more successful, and get the most out of 2012 that you possibly can, then it’s what you really need to do. Pick a coach, or a membership, headed by a marketer or people who have gained your trust, and stick to nothing else.

No matter the temptation, resist it with all the might you can muster up. Instead, go back and have a look at what your next step is in the program you’re following, and do that. If it’s something like a software, that’s recommended as part of the program, then sure..that’s a wise investment. But, stick to what you’re supposed to be doing.

If you can do that throughout 2012, and give this niche marketing thing the honest and genuine effort
it truly deserves, you’ll have your best year to date. Mark my words..

Get focused, get organized, and stick to your path!

Lemme, know what you think..I love comments:-)

David, I absolutely love this post! I have a great respect for honesty and people like you who tell it like it is. This post nails it. I have written a few articles in the same vein. Like many others in the internet marketing industry, I am appalled with all the BS out there. The birth of gurus and experts is akin to a contageous disease. Everyone is catching it! It makes it really difficult for marketers who have intergrity and are real specialists in their field.
It takes a while to sort through the good, bad and ugly and I feel for the new people getting into internet marketing, and trying to figure it all out (and spending a small fortune on shiny getn rich quick gimmicks).
I couldn’t agree with you more on your advice to find a reputable coach or mentor and stick with them.
Here’s an idea for your weekly post…”A Shot of Reality with Davin Ogden” But I like your name idea too.
All the best David and Bravo!

Hey Linda! Awesome, I’m so glad you enjoyed it.

Well yeah, I kind of told it like it is there, didn’t I? LOL.. Like you Linda, I’m just tired of seeing people get hurt in this business. There’s no need for that. People who need a second income, or simply need a new way of making an income have real dreams, feelings, and needs.

Many are desperate for a real answer, to what might be a pretty serious problem their facing in their life.

Nobody should mess with people’s lives that way (IMHO)…

Anyhow, I actually like your name suggestion..has a nice ring to it:-)

Thank you for taking the time to post Linda..and yes, all the best…back at ya!

Thanks David…I came back to apologize for my typo on your name in my last comment (and gawd I hate typos, especially when I make them..lol.) Here’s an idea for your weekly post should have said…”A Shot of Reality with David(not Davin) Ogden”
Again David..a great and refreshingly honest post.

haha….Linda, you had it right the first time. My name is Davin… with an “n” at the end, not a “d”.

Don’t worry about it though, a lot of people make that mistake. My name isn’t all that common:-)
