As you start 2012 there are 3 HUGE mistakes with your niche marketing strategy that you’ll definitely want to avoid, and be clear on as you work towards your goals for the year.
Whether you are a niche marketer that blends affiliate marketing into the mix of your business strategy or not, these 3 tips will help you to a great degree in 2012.
Your niche marketing strategy is very important if you’re to maximize your results, and what’s shared here are some things that I wish I was much more aware of when I’d started my online ventures a few years ago.
This post will also be a prelude to a series of posts in which I’ll be discussing four different types of affiliate marketing models, that you surely won’t want to miss.
Are you wanting to make 2012 one of your most productive, self fulfilling, and profitable years you’ve had to date?
Then let’s get started!
Niche Marketing Strategy Mistake #1:
**Not Knowing Exactly Which Type Of Marketer You Really Want To Be**
It’s very important to know exactly what type of marketer that you want to be with your niche
marketing strategy. Yes, there are several different ways that you can go about your marketing
and knowing “who” and “what” you want to be for your customers while striving for your goals
is very important.
Although I’ve known about the different roles or models you can put into play for quite some
time, recently I attended a webinar that actually put a label to each type which made recognition
of “Who you want to be”, much easier.
The labels and descriptions of these are particularly helpful when you are mixing affiliate
marketing into your niche marketing strategy. Which of course, pretty much accounts for practically all online marketers to a varying degrees.
These are:
The Anonymous Affiliate
The One Niche Focused Affiliate
The Expert Affiliate
The Entrepreneur Affiliate
We’ll be diving into each of these different types of roles and models individually in the next 4
blog posts in this series so you can decide how they fit into your niche marketing strategy best
suited for you.
Niche Marketing Strategy Mistake #2
**Do You Have An Overall Plan For 2012? If Not…Then Why Not?**
As the old saying goes, “If you don’t know where the hell you are going, then how the heck do you
expect to get there?”
This is one of the most common mistakes people make with their niche marketing strategy. They have absolutely no real idea what it is they are trying to accomplish. Sure, maybe it’s to make money…but that’s not a plan!
Do you know exactly where you want to be in 3 months from now? Four?
Do you know what is going to take you from point A to point B to get you where you want to be 3 or 4 months down the road?
If you’ve haven’t yet devised or started working on your plan for 2012, then now is the time to
start. Instead of throwing all of your efforts into the wind, wasting time, and spinning your wheels
it’s imperative to your success to get your goals and niche marketing strategy all mapped out now.
This will assure you the best possible outcome from the start. If you’re in this business without
a plan, it’s a “one way” ticket to nowhere. Don’t be of those marketers who wastes months of effort
and time, only to end up with practically nothing for all of your effort.
Time is something that flies by especially fast in this business. Be smart, and make a plan to keep
you focused, on track, and accountable for gaining the most headway with your goals.
Niche Marketing Strategy Mistake #3
**Not Having A Coach**
One of the things I have a real affinity to, and complete understanding of, is that it’s important to ALWAYS have some type of a coach in your corner. I don’t care if you are considered an expert in a particular area or not, WE ALL need them.
I understand this all to well…believe me. In my early days as a marketer is when I was making the most progress, and actually excelled to some great success fast.
It was because I had a coach, or at least a person whom I looked up to as my coach. It’s what helped me to stay on track and really strive for what I wanted. Most of it I’d say had to deal with the fact that I felt a real accountability to this person to do well with my business.
As times changed, and people move on, so did that part of things for me. Also, it’s when I no
longer had that person that I felt accountable to, and comfortable with around, when things really began to fall apart for a while!
This year I made it a distinct “must have” again, and it’s already proving to make a real difference in my business again.
I suggest you take care of this ASAP, so you can have the most productive and successful year you’ve had to date.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be “one on one” coaching which is very expensive most of the time.
It might be a certain ongoing membership headed by a person who’s achieved what you would like to achieve with your own business. Be sure that you understand what this person’s business is all about, and if they eminate a lot of the same type of structure you’d like to have. It’s then that you’ll be on the right track, which will definitely help with your niche marketing strategy for the year.
Also, it might take a little bit of searching until you find the proper person or membership that
will benefit your particular needs the most.
I was searching for a little while, and tried out a few different places until I finally found the
people and memberships I knew would help me the most. It’s definitely not “one size, fits all”.
When you find the proper people, and identify with them as your consultant or coach in the right
light, you’ll definitely know it.

Wow, another excellent and timely post Davin. I’ve been trying to come up with a better plan for 2012 myself, and this really does help. I’ll be coming back to check out the series as well!
I love the new look of your blog. I was just here a couple of days ago and it’s changed. It looks great.
Thank you and let us know when the next post is ready…
Thank you Becky, and you bet I will. Yes, you’re right! I did change the look again. It’s going to stay this way now for 2012. I’m finally happy with it, and done playing;-). I really like the look of it myself, and hope everyone else does as well. So thanx, that’s a positive comment.
Happy New Year Davin! I see you are, as ever, cutting through the BS for your fellow marketers and passing on the best stuff! Regards!
Hey Dianne, Happy New Year to you to! And yes, you bet Dianne. I’m so fricken tired of all the BS out there I could throw up. I’m really hoping I can help a lot of people out this coming year, and be of great value to them, so thank you, that’s a great compliment.
After all the crap people were fed in 2011, I hope 2012 brings people back to ground level somewhat, and I hope that leading by example, will rub off and have a positive effect on people;-).
Thanx for the comment Dianne, and all the best in 2012!
